Ingredients

For the beef

  • 1 lb 450g lean ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika

For the bowls

  • 4 cups iceberg lettuce chopped
  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cups fries cooked according to package directions
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1 cup tomato diced

For the Chick-fil-A style sauce

  • 1/4 cup light mayo
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Make the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, mustard, BBQ sauce, and honey until smooth. Set aside in the fridge while you prep everything else, this gives the flavours a chance to meld.
  • Cook the fries. Get your fries in the oven or air fryer first, since they'll take the longest. Cook according to package directions until golden and crispy.
  • Season the beef. While the fries cook, combine the ground beef with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl. Mix gently, just until combined, to keep the beef tender.
  • Cook the beef. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the beef and break it into small crumbles as it cooks, similar to a smashburger texture. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, until deeply browned and cooked through.
  • Prep your toppings. While the beef cooks, chop the lettuce, slice the red onion, dice the tomato, and slice the avocado.
  • Assemble the bowls. Divide the lettuce between three bowls as your base. Top with the beef, fries, red onion, avocado, and diced tomato.
  • Finish and serve. Drizzle generously with the Chick-fil-A style sauce and serve immediately while the fries are still crispy.
